British street artist and political activist made his statement this month on the sidewalks and buildings of NYC with his whimsical, and sometimes controversial, graffiti and performance art displays. Seen at Union Square and downtown locations, Siren of the Lambs drew crowds of spectators and photobloggers. If this isn't a cause to turn vegan, I don't know what is.

Danger has been taken to a new level as Citibike cyclists join bike messengers and food delivery workers (the worst offenders) in creating havoc in the streets of New York. I narrowly missed being run over by a tourist (you can always spot one) ignoring the traffic signal and a one way sign, traveling south on northbound University Place.

Instead of policing the street, detaining individuals with Bloomberg's "stop-and-frisk" tactics, the NYPD needs to be handing out summons to traffic violators. Here's the latest official cycling guide, available in eight languages.

Yesterday, Nate advised SNL's Rachel Dratch, who just happens to live in a neighboring building, on how to create a nursery in her (shared) bedroom space. Stay tuned for further updates.
This weekend I spotted two Canadian geese casually strolling on Kauneonga Lake. Though the ice fisherman are long gone, there were still some brave souls walking on the thin ice.

Our friend and resident psychologist/baker/restaurateur Judith had us in for tea at her beautiful lakefront home. We're all looking forward to her Fat Lady Cafe reopening, where she promised to reinvent the upstairs dining area, transforming it into a juice bar. With so many health fanatics in the area, it's sure to be a success.

Once again, we were glad to see that Benji and Jake are back from vacation, with their brick ovens firing up whole wheat pizzas of every variety. We met up with Rick for a quick bite before shopping at Walmart, whose prices are a third of what we are used to paying in Manhattan. Between doctor appointments, Valentine's Day, Elliot's birthday, and a plumbing backup in Kauneonga, work will seem like a vacation.

I did get to see Billy Elliot with Bobby and absolutely loved it. AND, strolling further downtown I snapped this photo of an ally-way off Lafayette Street.

It was another day for shopping, first stopping by Blick Art Supplies for sumi-e painting materials (for me) and then onto Etiqueta Negra where Elliot bought himself a beautiful pair of leather boots. With so many of the local restaurants closed for the winter, the 20 mile drive through some of the most beautiful countryside, is well worth the trip. This cafe stands out as one of our favorite places to dine in the area....and if you stick around, you may spot a bald eagle soaring high above the Delaware River.

Wally is looking very fashion forward in his red knit sweater.....perfect for this Valentine's Day weekend. Located in the Common Room, the Shelter is run entirely by volunteers.

Some of you may recognize this historic school in a scene from Revolutionary Road, where Kate Winslet is walking down Rutherford Place wearing a white dress.NormanTheDoxiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082529624302281198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4846467844546655416.post-80822014527092856452009-02-04T17:48:00.006-05:002009-02-05T12:17:02.727-05:00Image Trickery<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8SOq02ibh5Y/SYobVlVKs4I/AAAAAAAADGQ/47VkceVHbgI/s400/2f7f3277f6bcf18f_o.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5299077969166906242" />Thanks go to our school district technology director for bookmarking Dumpr on her delicious page.

Just upload any photo and hang your image in a famous museum gallery.

Add other effects, turning your photos into sketches, puzzles and more....then simply download saved image to your computer, email, blog or social networking site.

Dumpr is free, with limited effects, or purchase the Pro version, for additional features.....only $12 a year.NormanTheDoxiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082529624302281198noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4846467844546655416.post-78913338505216092612009-01-30T17:09:00.003-05:002009-01-30T17:28:17.891-05:00Wally<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8SOq02ibh5Y/SYN8qkQKyGI/AAAAAAAADF4/xdoOS7Wp8CU/s400/DSC04855.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297214657445677154" />
This is Wally and February will be the 6th year anniversary of his "birthday"..... or the day we adopted him from the Brooklyn Animal Control Shelter.

Wally loves to eat "real" food.....especially leftovers from Zagat rated restaurants.
